09/05/14

In association with both the University of Salford and HFH Consulting, Prism Medical UK has published an excellent research paper ‘Exploring the Manual Handling Myth’ that examines many misconceptions in the area of the manual handling of patients.

Within the paper the debate concerning the implications of double handed handling comes under the spotlight in terms of cost implications to service providers working with tightening budgets and the ever increasing numbers requiring their care.

Unveiled at The Waldorf Hilton Hotel in London on the 1st of April, the paper pulls together the opinions and findings of industry specialists alongside case studies that examine considerations, including:

Industrywide misconceptions in patient moving & handling

Outdated attitudes relating to the need for 2 careers

Widescale gaps in career knowledge when using specialist moving equipment

This is a very worthwhile research document that explores many pertinent areas that the industry must take on board, debate and learn from.
